This is the comparatively polished studio debut of a Tokyo heavy pop band, upped to celebrate the October 1st release of their new album, Transworld Ultra Rock. (Rock rag Kerrang! called the new release “Jane’s Addiction interpreted through a lo-fi Wildhearts perspective". Niiice.) After coming on to the scenes with a handful of 8-track bathroom recordings (notably Slayer's Bay Blues.. anyone got it?), Electric Eel Shock started touring the U.S. Apparently they liked it; they never quit. In 05' and 06' EES's popularity skyrocketed as they toured with American crass-pop act The Bloodhound Gang. EES's live show makes this album pale in comparison, but enough of the wild energy gets across to make it a compelling listen. EES.com
