The full-length debut of this LA duo takes a punk aesthetic in a hip, low-fi direction and the results are interesting. Weirdo Rippers is a compilation of highlights from a 5 EP series released this year on 5 different labels. The band has been a full-on live presence since April, and is involved with the DIY scene at LA art spot The Smell. Upset! the Rhythm

Jay is getting huge. He's one of the strongest young voices in punk today; you might recognize his voice from Lost Sounds, Angry Angles, or, naturally, The Reatards. He's based in Memphis now, and I'm told that his new act lives up to the Reatards' legendary stageshow, which got them famously banned from many European venues. On his recent new project, he combines his murderous guitar riffs with his Buzzcocks style faux British vocal attitude. The result is a filler-free disc full of melodic, creepy, and compelling punk rock. Missing Link Records
